Which way does the sun hit a unit, and when? Pick a condo, search an address or drop a pin, then slide the time and date. In Singapore the sun rises within 23° of due east and sets within 23° of due west all year, so east-facing units get morning sun and west-facing units get afternoon sun every day. It passes north of overhead from 24 Mar to 19 Sep and south for the rest of the year, which is when north- and south-facing units get theirs.

Direction only. These figures assume nothing stands between the sun and the wall. A neighbouring block, a hill or the unit’s own balcony overhang can cut them, and cloud always does. “Afternoon sun” counts a day with at least 60 minutes of direct sun between 2pm and sunset; “low sun” is the sun no more than 45° up, the part that reaches deep into a room. A project’s facing varies stack by stack: check the site plan for the unit you mean.
How to read the sun in Singapore
Singapore sits about 1.3° north of the equator, so the sun is never far from overhead at noon and its rising and setting points barely move through the year. What does change is which side of the sky it crosses: north of overhead from 24 Mar to 19 Sep, south of overhead otherwise. That is why east and west facings behave the same all year while north and south facings swap between full-day sun and none.
The clock. Across 2026, sunrise falls between 06:47 and 07:16, sunset between 18:51 and 19:21, and the day is 12h 03m to 12h 12m long. Solar noon comes around 12:49–13:18, an hour later than the clock’s twelve, so the “afternoon sun” buyers worry about is the sun after two or three o’clock.
What the tool measures. For the facing you choose, it counts the minutes the sun is both above the horizon and in front of the wall (within 90° of the direction it faces), splits them either side of solar noon, and separates the lowsun, no more than 45° up, that reaches deep past a window from the high sun that overhangs mostly cut. The yearly figure counts the days with at least an hour of direct sun between 2pm and sunset: the Singapore “west sun”.

A neighbouring tower, a hill or the unit’s own balcony can shade a window the model calls lit, and cloud cuts Singapore’s direct sun a great deal. Read the figures as the ceiling on exposure. A project’s facing also varies stack by stack; confirm the stack on the site plan, or take a phone compass to the window at a viewing.

- No. This first version gives sun direction and height only, from the location's coordinates. It cannot tell whether a neighbouring tower, a hill or the unit's own balcony overhang shades a window at a given hour, and it does not model cloud cover, which cuts Singapore's direct sun considerably. Read the result as the ceiling on exposure, and check the facing of the specific stack on the site plan: a project's "facing" varies stack by stack.
- How accurate are the times and angles?
- Sun positions use the NOAA Solar Calculator algorithm with atmospheric refraction, accurate to about a minute on sunrise and sunset and a fraction of a degree on direction. All times are Singapore time (UTC+8). Condo locations come from the OneMap geocode of the project's address; a pinned point is exact to where you click.
